Left or Right

Bean has discovered his thumb. For the past few weeks he has been sucking on his right thumb, but lately he has started to suck on his left. Every now and then I see him grabbing his hands as if the hands are fighting over which thumb gets sucked. Watching him do this makes me wonder which hand is dominant. For a long time now I have thought that he might be a lefty--when playing with his toys he grabs and swings his left hand while keeping his right tucked up next to his body, but now I'm not to sure. I've discussed this with Dam and he has reminded me that ambidextrous doesn't mean using both hands equally it means having two right hands and that left handed people don't live as long as righties. Unfortunately we live in a right handed world, but I know two relatives, to whom I admire, that are lefties and I would not mind it at all if Bean ended up being one.

Notes From the Far East

I have realized that most of the people who read my blog have no idea what Dam is doing right now. Currently he is in Shanghai going to school. The classes he is taking are language courses to help improve his Mandarin speaking skills. He's living in the dorms and has a roommate from Bolivia (who snores like a freight train). He likes the Branch that he is attending. Apparently Shanghai has two branches, one that covers people living on the east side of the river and the other covers people living on the west side of the river.

Our plan, right now, is for Dam to start apartment hunting and in January have Bean and me fly out to stay until Dam is finished in July.

7 Weird Things About Me--more like geeky things ;)

Ash--thanks for the tag!! I am honored that you would include me!

1. The first thing that came to my mind is I like to eat Cheetos with tuna. I started doing this as a child. I didn't eat Cheetos with tuna at first--I'd eat them in between the slices of bread of my peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, then eventually I decided if Cheetos are so good with PB & J why not my tuna sandwiches?

2. I pop my ears--when I am sleepy or my ears are cold I'll rub the inside of my ear canal with my finger and it makes a popping noise. I don't realize that I am doing it--but it drives some people I know up the wall.

3. My toes pop when I walk--my younger brother calls me castanet toes because they pop so loud.

4. I scared people in high school. My best friend in high school was goth, I used a cow's heart in anatomy class as a bowling ball, and I did not care to fit into the mormon mold made by the other LDS kids at my school.

5. I've worked for surgeons, I can eat food while watching a surgery, but I can't stand touching raw meat with my bare hands. It just makes me squeemish.

6. First date with my husband was to a pet shop to pick out a snake. Don't know many people who do that. (pic I've featured is of the snake I bought on that date)

7. I have a reoccurring nightmare that my teeth are falling out. I think it stems from my fear of the dentist and 18 months of torture of braces.

Jo, Sarah, and Mandi, TAG your it!!!
